An extensive extended cruise around the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an senior lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The vessel left without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A major hunt discovered her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are looking into the event, in coordination with police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company said that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous engine troubles".

In a statement, he added that passengers would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Authorities also issued an updated announcement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Commander" prohibiting any new passengers from getting on the vessel.

The ship originally sailed from Cairns on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the journey at the time of the senior passenger's death. The remote island was the opening port on the itinerary.

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "stunned and grieved that the vessel left Lizard Island after an organised outing without my mum".

In her statement, she characterized her mother as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a affiliate of a hiking organization.

"Based on limited facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a breakdown of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She added that she hoped the investigation would be able to identify what "the operator should have undertaken that might have preserved Mother's life".

"Based on information from the police that it was a very hot afternoon, and she became unwell on the uphill trek," she stated.

"They requested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the vessel sailed away, reportedly without performing a roll call.

"During some point in that chain of events, or soon after, mum succumbed, without company."

Company Response

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive verified that the company was "cooperating fully with investigators to support their inquiry".

He said that the organization was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had offered its full support to the loved ones.

The ship accommodates up to one hundred twenty passengers with 46 staff, according to official data. It was purpose-built to enter distant locations of the Australian coastline and is outfitted with "small boats" - compact vessels used to transport travelers on land visits.
